Hi,
First off:
The Traverse City Institution is / was the Traverse City State Hospital previously the Asylum. Normally you don't just go there because you have no where else to go. Odds are he was senile / Alzheimer's of some nature as that. The other men would have been other patients or inmates as they were called then. Terrible name it seems as if they could have come up with a better description title than that.

I have some Kalkaska data but please write direct to remind me to do this and I will come back here so it is of record.
