I checked the records. There are 122 names from people who began work in the 1860's with the earliest in 1864/5. There are only 1 or 2 of those.
An additional 210 are there that began work in the 1870s. Please be aware that the cards on which the records are written were in a fire and that many did not survive. There are no names that begin with A, E or I. A large part of the D's are missing as are the G's. Charring, water damage and mold have wiped out other cards.
You can check the Ross Collection on line. However, the Rosses only recorded those who were born in Cornwall. The CD includes all ethnic groups and those born in the US. It was a ten-year project (we're slow workers!). To date, the CDs have raised over $2500 for the Keweenaw Heritage Center restoration and have provided information to lots of people.
