Huron County Tribune, Bad Axe, Michigan, Friday, April 7, 1939:
"MRS. MATILDA FAIST, 70, died in Hubbard Memorial Hospital Saturday, April
1, 1939, after a lingering illness. She was born in Kilmanagh on August
29, 1868, the daughter of William and Wilhelmine Kappen. She married William
Faist on January 23, 1889 in Kilmanagh. He died February 9, 1937. Surviving
are three daughters, Mrs. Fred Elvin (Viola) of Bad Axe, Mrs. George Blundy
(Mildred) of Detroit, and Mrs. Frank Meagher (Gertrude) of Kinde, one son,
Hamilton, of Bad Axe; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Baur (Ernestine) of
Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Francis Duford (Martha) of Saginaw. Funeral services
were held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin with the
Rev. Herbert E. Davis officiating. Burial was in Colfax Cemetery."
