Subject: [MIHURON] 1875/6 Shipwreck survivors
Date: Thu, 8 Oct 2009 16:48:42 -0400
In the past someone mailed me some (dubious?) information in my search for my Bowen ancestors. It was said that they were shipwrecked at Pte. Au Barques in either 1875 or 1876, and that it how they came to live in Port Austin.
Does anyone have any thought on how I can research this theory?
A quick internet search showed that on Oct 10, 1877 the Abeona sank near there, but it was a lumber and shingle transporter, not really a passenger ship, and the ship was recovered.
