Berman, Sherwood N. Okemos, MI Age 73, passed away on November 27, 2004. He was born on February 7, 1931 in Saginaw. Sherwood believed that it is a person's obligation to leave this world a better place. He lived that belief. He recognized the good and uniqueness in everyone. Sherwood was a partner at Greenville Steel Sales, Inc. until retiring 5 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army, and was very active in the Jaycees, including serving as president of the Lansing Chapter in 1965-66. That year the Lansing Chapter was recognized as the outstanding chapter in Michigan. He received their Distinguished Service Award in 1967. Sherwood was active on the Michigan State Hillel Board for many years, and supported their growth and achievement until the present. He was a long-time member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek and helped them in every way he could. He was President of the Congregation from 1986 to 1988, and continued to chair committees. For the past 9-1/2 years he was a member!
of the Ingham Intermediate School Board, and served as President, Vice President, and was currently Treasurer. He took great pride in their outstanding reputation for service to children, school districts and the community. His kindness and caring were extraordinary. He loved many people, but most of all his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children by marriage and their families, Todd (Lorna) Anderson and grandchildren, Emily, Abigail, Eliannah, and Asa; Miles (Marsha) Anderson; his sister, Harriet (Harvey) Goldstein and their family, Darrel (Debbie) Goldstein; Marcy (Vincent) Pellegrino; and grand nephews, Jacob and Jonah; and nieces and nephews.
