Hi

Because the Michigan Censuses for 1890 and 1900 -- when the "Earnestine Caroline LOEPKE" born in "Jan 1890" would have been young enough to be living with her parents (mother and step-father) - is not yet available online -- I am having a difficult time.

I understand that her father died leaving three (girls?) children.
She was born in Okemos ... just about a 5 mile ride from the little town of Haslett, Michigan (eastside of Lancing).

Would you happen to have any family group sheets on which an Earnestine is listed? Any ideas what-so-ever?

I did a bit of tracing and ... at this point I think the "LEPKE" name might not be the same as the LOEPKE name

I think in Germany/Prussia? - the first vowel (either a U or an O) in the name had a dipthong over it .. causing difficulty with the sound not translating easily into an American/English sound - causing so many various spellings . That is just a guess on my part. - I wonder if the LEPKE family is a separate family than the LOEPKE family. I know the LOEPKE family I am looking for were "farmers".

The Jan 1890 birthdate is not too far back. Any ideas?
