There are several MOE families living in the area of Sandstone twp., Jackson Co., MI. comming from VT. I hope these leads can help you. Carole, not related.

H. L. MOE was born in Rutland County, VT., in 1822; he came West with his parents and located on sec. 25; he was married to Amelia HAY, of Onondaga County, N.Y.; Dec. 9, 1846; there are 5 children now living--Orville, Aaron, Alma, Mabel, and Willard. In the fall of 1847 Mr. MOE came to sec. 4, where he now resides; owns 160 acres of land and has been a farmer all his life. P.O., Jackson.

Willard L. MOE is listed on the LDS site as son of Hiram S. MOE and Amelia E. HOYT . IGA report give Hiram born 8 Oct 1822 Whitehall, Rutland Co., VT married 9 Dec. 1847 Jackson, MI to Amelia E. HOYT born 5 Dec. 1824 Syracuse, NY
Remember that both the County History and the Census report may have mistakes in them but are useful leads to follow up.
Page 770 mentions that Perrin MOE had a farm in Sandstone. Jackson Co., History
Perrin age 74 born 1806 VT father b. VT mother born VT can be found on the Page 206B 1880 Sandstone Twp., Jackson Co., MI census found at the LDS site, FamilySeach.org You can also find marriage information there.
