I'm chasing a wild goose. I have one sentence from the
obituary of my gr.grandfather Abner Brown, that says:

"In 1856 he came to Michigan, stayed with an uncle at Fentonville, the first night, and worked in Jackson the first winter."

By 1857 Abner had moved on to Cass County, where he settled and lived the rest of his days. His journey originated in Cohocton, Steuben County, New York, where he was born.

I'm hoping that this "uncle" is on his mother's side (Martha Gleason Brown), as she is a big mystery. Martha was b. June 1816 in Yates (county?) NY, and later came to Cass Co., where she lived out her life and is buried.

Can anyone tell me where Fentonville is/was located? I can't find it on the geo-location sites, nor on a map, so I expect it
doesn't exist any longer. Township? New name? Anything?

Thanks.

Bonnie
