I am searching to see if anyone can help me find a couple of dates. My Bartle/Bartell line has a mystery. Isaac Bartle was born in 1820 and was married to Mary Stanfield. They came from England to Michigan via New York in 1854 on the ship Emerald Isle. The passenger list states four children and does not insinuate any had died. However, family lore has it that the two younger died and were buried at sea. The family is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Concord, Michigan. There is a stone there which states "In Memory of William and Abram Children of I & M Bartell". I am really hoping that someone can shed some light on this. Did the children die at sea and the passenger list just omitted that fact? Did they die enroute to Michigan from New York? If anyone knows, please let me know.
