James Buck - Of Kalamazoo, Went to be with His Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2002. Mr. Buck was born May 1, 1939 in Allegan, the son of J. A. Harvey Jr. and Anna (Smith) Buck. James was raised by his grandparents, James and Bertha (Russman) Smith. He was a descendant of the Claus Buck and Rumery families of Monterey. After graduating from Allegan High School in 1957, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the reserve for 8 years. For 41 years, he was employed with KVP Sutherland (later Crown Vantage) Paper Co. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, gardening, hunting and camping. He built their first home and was very skilled in working with stained glass. His memberships include the Gull Lake Yacht club and Papermakers Local #323. For 16 years, he attended the First Assembly of God in Portage. On April 19, 1958 in Paw Paw, he married Patricia Wyatt, who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Belinda (Ed) Smith of Snellville, GA, Teresa Williams of Schoolcraft and Anthony (Pa!
tricia) Buck of Plainwell; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Walker, Jason, Jared and Jacqueline Smith, Michelle Williams, Matthew Buck, Corey Lutz and Rachel Buck; 1 step-sister, Sandra (Kenneth) Shauer of Comstock; 4 half sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; stepmother, Elaine Buck; father-in- law, Charles H.Wyatt; and mother- in-law, Dorothy Prehn. Friends may meet the family from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the Winkel Funeral Home Otsego A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:30 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Otsego, Rev. David L. DeCook officiating. Military graveside honors at Mt. Olivet Cemetery will be under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #3030.
