Mr. Alvin L. Nelson - Kalamazoo, Died Sunday evening, April 7, 2002 at his residence with his family by his side. Al was born June 22, 1928 in Ft. Morgan, CO, the son of Glenn and Adrianne (Sheedy) Nelson, and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for most of his life. He was the world's best truck driver and was a long time employee of Everfresh Farms in Wyoming, MI. Al was loved by everyone who really knew him. He was an avid fisherman and NASCAR fan and his enjoyment in life was being with his family and the annual fishing trip to Watersmeet with the guys. He was the world's greatest husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. On September 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Margaret Kamps, who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Glenna (Al) Gruppen of Allegan, and Jodi (Chris) Mattison of Kalamazoo; 5 grand-children, Michael (Angie) Newell of Paw Paw, Katie and Cody Mattison of Kalamazoo, and Ashley and Nicole Gruppen of Hudsonville; 2 great-grandchildren, Ju!
lian and Mackenzie Newell; a brother, Jim Nelson of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Nelson. Services will be held at 1:00 o'clock Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Memorial Chapel 622 S. Burdick St. 343-1508 with Harry D. Sibert officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family this evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the chapel.
