I'm sorry it is way to late for your school project but...did your John Peter come from Holland abt. 1922 to Michigan ? My gr-grandfather (John DeGoede) Jan Baptiste Fokke de Goede came in 1911 and his brother (John Peter DeGoede) Jan Pieter Fokke de Goede b. abt. 1889 came 1922. His mothers name was Joanna Dooms. Thier father was (John Peter) Jannis Pieter Fokke de Goede. The last name changed to DeGoede. I always thought it was but...my John was a painter and signed the first ones he did here in US with his given name. I have some info. so...if he was in MI...i've got it for you. Roxanne email me
