Passed away Friday, February 4, 2005, at Rose Arbor Hospice. Bliss was born in Uniontown, PA, September 14, 1946, the daughter of Fuller & Lida (Lanahan) McCowan. She worked for the Cheff Center for the Handicapped for 22 years, and presently worked for MRC Industries Inc. since 1997. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, camping, golf and horses. She received the Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year award in 2003, chaired a committee of the Kalamazoo Klassic the past five years, and was the 1987 President of NARHA. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend, loved by many. On March 7, 2004, she married Thomas Williams, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Stacey (Doug) Pennock of Augusta, Jack (Rebecca) Brown of Richland, their father, Buster L. Brown of Oswego, IL, Kateryn and Jessica Williams of Augusta; five grandchildren, Kayla and Ty Pennock, Nicole, Courtney and Justin Brown; five brothers, Charles (Carol!
) McCowan of Jacksonville, FL, Scott (Denise) McCowan of Madison, WI, Michael (Maria) McCowan of Portland, OR, Douglas McCowan of Seattle, WA and Stuart (Emily) McCowan of Pittsburg, PA; her sister, Valerie (Andy) Blatt of Pittsburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Philip McCowan. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at Gull Lake United Methodist Church, 8640 Gull Road, Richland, from 5 to 8 Monday evening. Memorial services will be held at Gull Lake U.M. Church at 11 Tuesday morning with Pastor Steve Charnley officiating. Contributions in her memory may be made to Gull Lake U.M. Church Building Fund or MRC Industries.
