Mrs. Esther BROWN BRAWLEY - Died Sunday morning, November 2, 1997 at home. Esther was born June 17, 1923 in Gaffney, S.C., the daughter of Roy W. and Clarice (SMITH) BROWN, and had lived in Kalamazoo for more than 30 years. She was involved for many years as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and Borgess Service League. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. On october 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to John R. BRAWLEY, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters and their spouses, Linda and Phil SIMPSON of Charlotte, N.C. and Pat and Jerry VANDER VEEN of Kalamazoo; two granddaughter, Lindsay and Morgan VANDER VEEN of Kalamazoo; two granddaughters, Lindsay and Morgan VANDER VEEN of Kalamazoo; two brothers and their spouses, William S. BROWN Barbara, and Cecil R. BROWN (Barbara), all of Spartanburg, S.C.; and a sister-in-law, Martha BROWN of Lake City, S.C.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine ABRA!
MS; and a brother, Roy W. BROWN Jr. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 1997, at the First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo (321 W. South Street) with the Rev. Jean Norris and the Rev. Fritz Kruithof officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. entombment will take place at Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, Spartanburg, SC. Memorial may be made to Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage chapel, 411 E.
