Shannon passed away suddenly in Alexander City, Alabama on Wednesday, July 27, the victim of a semi-truck accident. He was a proud Southerner, born in Alabama, but shared his life with those he loved in Michigan, where he was raised and spent many adult years. He is survived by his beloved son, Bret M. Willis of Schoolcraft, MI; his mother, Violet "Vi" Cross of Decatur, AL; his sisters, DeAnna Bearden, also of Decatur, AL, and Melanie Miller of Ft. Campbell, KY; his brothers, James Winston Willis, Jr. of Montevallo, AL, John David Smith of Talledega, AL, and Regan McCostlin of Alexander City, AL; his uncle and aunt, Atkins and Annette Smith of Talledega, AL; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special lifelong friends.
Shannon's kind nature and gentle soul will be celebrated at a memorial at his son's home, 301 West Vienna Street, Schoolcraft, MI, on Saturday August 13, at six o'clock in the evening, Rev. Fred Betcher, Schoolcraft, officiating.
