Died on Monday, August 29, 2005, at his Home. He was born on October 24, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, to Stanley J. and Catherine (Dudek) Talpa. John was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Following his service in the Army John married Shirley (Kamin) on March 8, 1968 and moved to Kalamazoo County in 1975. He loved to work with plants and served for 8 years as the President of the Dunes-Kalamazoo Orchid Society. John also loved Hockey and played in three different leagues. In 1982 he started the JT Company, which specialized in water treatment. John is survived by his wife, Shirley (Kamin) Talpa; daughter, Kathryn (B.J.) Hinkle of Portage; son, John S. Talpa of Kalamazoo; mother, Catherine Talpa of Coldwater; sister, Theresa (Donnie) Ankney of Coldwater; niece, Kaylene Ankney, four nephews, Donnald Ankney, Kenneth P. Kamin, Kevin Kamin, Brian Kamin; and two step-grandchildren, B.J. Hinkle Jr. and Holly Hinkle. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 2, 20!
05 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kalamazoo First Assembly of God Church located on 5550 Oakland Dr. off of I-94 in Kalamazoo, MI. Memorials (donations), in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo.
