Donald FRITZ - Vicksburg, MI, Don was born in Wakeshma Township on April 28, 1916. He attended country school in this area through the 8th grade. Don then went to work on the family farm. Don also worked for Standard Oil Company for 8 years. While attending a prayer meeting in Vicksburg he met Ruth KNAUSS. He and Ruth were married one year later on August 11, 1935. They had five daughters, Marilyn and her husband Verlyn BORTON of Vicksburg, Doneta who preceded him in death in 1937, Mary Joe WALKER of Portage, Shirley and her husband John MOE of Vicksburg, and Carol BUYCE of Portage. He began working for Dover Company in 1955, retiring in 1979. Don loved to play the harmonica and the guitar. He also enjoyed fishing with his wife, Ruth, gardening and farming. Don was very proud of his 7 grandchildren, Rodney BORTON, Jody NAPPIER, Jerry James WALKER, Tamarah BISH, Donald BUYCE , Dina WAGGONER, and Melonie STEWART and 9 great grandchildren. His favorite time were spen!
t while on the farm and with his grand and great grandchildren. Don and Ruth both attended the Crossroads Missionary Church. His family also includes 2 brothers, Gordon and his wife Cora of Vicksburg, Stewart of Galesburg; a sister, Ellen and her husband Andy BROKER of Three Rivers; and a sister-in-law, Helen FRITZ of Scotts. Don died in Kalamazoo on March 20, 1997. His parents, Walter and Ruby (SPRINGER) FRITZ, one brother, Tom and a sister, Eva HENDERSON, preceded him in death. Friends may spend time with Don's family at the Rupert, Durham, Marshall & Gren Funeral Home, Vicksburg Chapel on Saturday from 6-8 and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in North Fulton Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Crossroads Missionary Church.
