Thanks for the further lowdown. Sarah Pearce being a single mother, especially one never having married, must have been a trying experience in those days. Today people would hardly think anything of it.

You mention Milliman families. Lola Mae Richards, the daughter of one of my Page half great-aunts, married Joseph Burchard Milliman, son of Joseph Whitford and Theresa E. (Grover) Milliman of Kalamazoo. Joseph Whitford was originally from Genesee, Livingston Co., NY, and Theresa was from OH.

Another Page cousin, Elsie May Page, married Jesse Strange Harrison, son of John Strange and Ellen Louise (Tupper) Harrison. I understand that the Harrison family is one giant Gordian knot due to size of families and penchant for marrying cousins. They, too, liked to move around the country as a group.

As to being related multiple times with one person, it is fun to make these discoveries, and the deeper one goes back in time the greater the chances are of uncovering them. In my own case, my mother and father turned out to be 7th and 8th cousins to each other, so my mother was also my 7th cousin once removed and 8th cousin once removed, whereas my father was also my 9th cousin once removed and 10th cousin once removed. I AND my siblings are also my 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th cousins. (It's rather eerie being one's own multiple cousins.)

Since my brother married a distant cousin (this relationship was just recently discovered), their children, besides being nieces and nephews, are also my 8th cousins once removed, 8th cousins twice removed, 9th cousins once removed, 10th cousins once removed, 10th cousins twice removed, and 11th cousins once removed. At least two of my nieces sometimes address me, especially in email, as "Cuz-Uncle." Once many years ago I mistakenly introduced them as my cousins rather than as my nieces. It became an inside joke between us and the Cuz-Uncle title was born. We didn't know at the time that I wasn't wrong.
