BUTCHER, Mr. Richard H. Sr.
Galesburg, MI
Went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2008. Richard was born in Kalamazoo, MI on April 9, 1928, the son of Richard and Pauline (Plating) Butcher. On February 25, 1950 he married Henrietta VanderMeer, his wife of 58 years. Richard had an unbelievable work ethic. He retired from Consumers Concrete Products in 1987, but never slowed down. He was a Christian man who was dedicated to the Lord and to his wife and family. Family was important to Richard, and when not working, he could be found spending time with all of them. He was a recreational pilot and an outstanding mechanic. He was also gifted with a great singing voice. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Bonnie (John) Zamora, of KY, Sally (David) Baker, of Battle Creek, and Rebekah (Rob) Johnson, of Battle Creek; two sons, Khem (Nancy) Butcher of WA and Richard (Helen) Butcher Jr. of Galesburg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and many good friends. A memorial service in his honor will be held on Satu!
rday, August 9, 2008 1:30 PM at the Galesburg Baptist Church, 10100 Shadow Ln., Galesburg, MI 49053, with Pastor Don Barnes officiating. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Galesburg Baptist Church or Borgess VNA Hospice.
