Ladies of the Grand Army of Republic

If you are female age 10 years of age and up, are a descendant (direct or a
niece) of a Union Civil War veteran, honorably discharged, or a direct
descendant of Union nurse, you may be eligible for membership in the Ladies of the
Grand Army of the Republic. The LGAR is the oldest descendants organization
for women in the U. S., founded in 1881. Patriotism, education about the Civil
War to the public, and keeping Memorial Day as a "sacred" day for the
remembering of our honored dead of wars past and present are the centers of the
LGAR.

If you are proud of your Civil War ancestor, and would like to honor the
family name by belonging to the only organization that my use the name of the
Grand Army of the Republic, then please contact: .
