Just one simple correction, but a big one if your friend in NL is doing
genealogical research. Mr. DE VOS' first name is not Don, but RICHARD DE
VOS.
Both Richard De Vos and Jay VanAndel came from very humble beginnings but
were two young men steeped in the Protestant Work Ethic. Mr. De Vos was at
Grand Rapids Christian High while my folks attended the same institution.
As a terrific gesture to their alma mater both DV and VA contributed almost
in full to the current GR Christian High Center for Arts & Worship, a huge,
gorgeous facility that is now the second largest auditorium (not arena) in
GR. Their children now run Amway,which, if I'm not mistaken, is currently
called Alticor.
