Dear Bobbie: My Great Grandfather was John C. Quaid and a private in the 6th Mich Cavalry Co, F. Unfortunately I have no pictures of him. According to my late Aunt Margaret, he had carrot-red curley hair and was so young when he enlisted that they made him the drummer boy. He went on to Wisconsin after the war and married Margaret Fitzsimmons and had 4 children, Michael and Susan born in Lake Five Wi and David and William born in Polk County (western) near New Richmond WI. Both he and his wife are buried in St. Bridget's cemetery in St. Croix County Wi and he does have a grave marker noting his service in the civil war. He was a farmer all his life and I had the honor of touring the old homestead which now belongs to the Lee family. There is a death notice in the New Richmond newspaper of his death on December 12, 1914.
