Mr. James Kenneth Goggins, 84, of Lowell went home to be with his Lord on Monday, May 19, 1997. He was born on September 23, 1912 in Bowne Township, the son of James M. and Bertha M. (Konkle) Goggins. He was the founder of Shady Acres Farm where he provided hay rides and a riding stable to many people. For many years he owned the Northend Beer Store on Plainfield Ave. and later in life was a sales rep for VanAndel Chrysler-Plymouth and retired from Thomets Chevrolet-Buick in Lowell. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy on May 30, 1994. Mr. Goggins is survived by his children, Mary Jo Middaugh of Lowell, Anne and Jack Wood of Lowell, Kathleen and Pedro Rodriguez of East Grand Rapids, James and Marti Goggins of Lowell, Michael and Susan Goggins of Muskegon Patrick and Peggy Goggins of Pierson; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Francis and Mary Ellen Goggins, of Hastings; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Carmody and Mrs. Sal Widerski both of!
Grand Rapids; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 7-9 pm Tuesday, May 20 and 1-4 pm and 7-9 pm Wednesday May 21 at the Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford. A Wake Service will be offered on Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm at the funeral home. the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 12:00 pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Parnell with Rev. Father Wayne Wheeler as Celebrant. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider either Masses or Visiting Nurse Hospice.
