Is there a way to find out if there is a death certificate on file in Kent Co before ordering it?

I am looking for the death certificate info from Adeline Hatchew, d 12 May 1888, in Lowell,

Philena Blackmore Seeley Van Deusen, d 12 Feb 1872, buried in Vergennes.

Possibly James L Allen b 1832, died around 1890. He lived in Lowell, but is buried in Douglass, Montcalm Co, MI so I'm not sure where his death certificate would be.

I would love info so that I order death certificates from the right location. Thank you,
