I possibly can shed some light. Irma Cowan's father, William, was a brother of my 3rd G-Grandmother, Elizabeth Cowan Henry. Her 1st husband died, but they had a daughter named Hattie b. 1873 who could be the original owner of your book. She (Hattie) would have been the half-sister of my 2nd G-Grandmother.
I have more info on the Cowan's if you're interested but nothing much more specific on Hattie other than a possible spouse which I haven't checked out yet.
