BARBER, Philip Roy "Phil"
Age 71
Of Grand Rapids

Went to be with his Lord on June 11, 2008 after a 2 1/2 year illness with a rare form of cancer. Preceding him to glory were his parents, Bernard and Lois Barber; sister, Sandy Gillet and brother-in-law, Garth Gillet. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Kathy (John) VanDeWege, Lisa (John) Szczepaniak, Tammy (Chad) Christian. Seven grandchildren, Jane and Josh VanDeWege, Sean and Eric Szczepaniak, Cole Karrip, Twins, Dane and Ryker Christian, twin brother, Thomas (Marilyn) Barber, plus several nieces and nephews. Phil was a highly respected Educator and coach at Rogers High School in Wyoming for 27 years. He was very active in his church and served on the mission field in Congo, Africa and Puerto Rico numerous times. A service celebrating Phil's life will be held at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St., Byron Center, MI. 49315 on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Visitation at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller N.E. at Three Mile Rd. from 6-9 PM Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM !
Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rush Creek Bible Church, or Grace Ministries International, P.O. Box 9495, 1101 Aldon S.W., Wyoming, MI. 49509.
