EX-MILLINER DIES AT 86

Mrs. W.C. FASSOLD Sand Lake Ex-Aide

MRS. WILLIAM C. (LENA L. CULLUN) [COLLUM] FASSOLD, 86, of 3994 Plainfield Ave. NE, former treasurer of Sand Lake who ran a millinery store there many years, died Tuesday in Butterworth Hospital after a one year illness.

Born in Sand Lake, she operated the store there about 15 years and was village treasurer approximately the same period. She was a member of Sand Lake Methodist Church and maintained a residence there although she moved here 25 years ago to live with her daughter, MISS IRENE L. FASSOLD.

Her husband, who managed a grain elevator at Sand Lake many years, died in 1953.

Surviving besides the daughter are a sister, MRS. JAMES R. RUMSEY, and a niece, MRS. J. RUSSELL MARTIN, both of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Sand Lake Methodist Church with the Rev. John Frye officiating. Burial will be in Sand Lake Cemetery. The body is at O'Brien's Mortuary, with arrangements being handled by T.J. Blanchard Funeral Home.

(Weeks) Crabbe, residents of Sand Lake, the result of this marriage being one son George E. They also reared two girls, LENA and IVA CULLOM, who remained in the family from childhood to maturity.

LENA L. CULLOM was b. April 1875, in Sand Lake, Kent Co., MI, the daughter of MYRON L. CULLOM and SOPHIA BROTHERS. Lena was orphanned at 13 yrs. old, and was raised by JOHN E. GOUL and his wife GEORGIA CRABBE. Lena was married to WILLIAM C. FASSOLD about 1900. William was b. 14 September 1874, prob. in Montcalm Co., MI, to CONRAD K. FASSOLD and ELIZABETH _____?_____. Lena d. 21 November 1961 in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI. William d. 21 August 1953, in Grand Rapids, MI. They are both buried in Sand Lake Cemetery. They had one daughter, IRENE L. FASSOLD.
