I am looking for the family of my John Miller who was born ca 1780 in
Virginia (according to census), married Martha LNU, she was born ca 1782,
also in Virginia. They appear to have come thru Tennessee (per census
children born there, ca 1820s, and on to present day Maries County, Missouri
(previously Pulaski county.) Maries and Pulaski have had courthouse fires
after the time of John's death so all wills, estates, deeds, etc. are gone
for both counties. Am unable to even put together a comprehensive list of
John and Martha's children. Know of two daughters, and a probable son,
but the other Millers in the area are just speculative. John died
between the 1860 and 1870 census, Martha between 1850 and 1860 in present
day Maries County. Unknown burial, and unknown exact location of home.
Daughters names are Martha Jane and Mahala Jane, and the probable son is
named Rolla (my clue is that Martha Jane named her only son Rolla). There
are two Rolla Millers in the area about 15 years apart in age. The older
Rolla m/ Dorcas and went on to Texas.

The Miller families in the county who are of an age to be sons of John and
Martha are:

Rolla/Rolly C. b. ca 1807 TN, m/ Dorcas McNew Davenport.
Rolly b. ca 1823 TN.
John Park b. ca 1818 TN
John b. ca 1800 TN m/ Nancy
James b. ca 1821 Tn m/ Desdemonia
William B. cb. ca 1809 TN

and two who were born in Kentucky - are they related in any way??
Joseph b. ca 1828 KY m/ Malinda/Marinda(Bates?)
James b. ca 1815 KY

These families were found in Pulaski County MO ca 1840. Part of Pulaski
became Maries and Maries is where John was living in 1850 and 1860 census
timeframes.

Does anyone recognize any of the families?? All help greatfully appreciated
and needed.

Thank you, Judy

I have a Rev. Jacob Wesley Miller b. 1822 from Rockingham County whose
father was Mathias Miller b. 1780 who d. 1859 in Keezletown, Rockingham
County.
I have not been able to find any siblings of Jacob or find Mathias'
parents. According to family history, Mathias was b. in Rockingham
County and was a farmer. I've checked PA records on the chance that
family history was wrong but so far no luck.
Mathias m. 1816 Phebe Pernal, daughter of William Pernal. She was from
Philadelphia but I haven't been able to find her father in the censuses.
He was deceased at the time of their wedding.
Re Rev. Jacob Miller, he lived in TN (1850 census), GA (1860 census) and
finally Louisville, KY (1870 and 1880 census) where he d. in 1881. His
occupation on the censuses is either preacher or school teacher.
Anyone out there related to my Rev.?
