I just joined this list, and I am hoping that someone can help me. The first question is: What township is McBride in?

My wife's great-grandfather, Jesse Shamp, was reportedly born in McBride on October 18, 1871. This is from a birth certificate of one son and his death certificate. I have tried and tried and I can not find this record, or any Shamps in the 1870 census or 1880 census. Jesse is living in Bushnell Township in the 1900 census, but he married his wife Ida Garnett Pickett Carothers Burrows in Cass County, Indiana on May 1, 1892.

I know this is a long shot, but if anyone can help in any way with this one, I would deeply appreciate it.
