Just to add this; I use the library facilities all the time and the staff, both paid and volunteer are more than happy to help you with your genealogical research. Most of the researchers there will help you out, also. In addition to the county clerk's office, check the circuit court office for divorce and criminal records, some dating back into the 19th century.
