If you get this message, let me beg forgiveness first! Due to many reasons I have not been able to pursue my genealogy work for several years. I happened to receive a reply today and when I looked at this thread I found your message from Nov 15, 2002. I did find the following in my ancestral file:

Hendrik Buikema (b. 21Jan1858, bp. Den Andel, Groningen) married Menstje Diekema (b. 12Aug1861, bp. Baflo, Groningen) on 7Apr1882. The names are very close - yours may be the Americanized version.

The only two children I have are sons Jan and Pieter, both born in the Netherlands (haven't researched this family in the U.S. so Winifred could be a daughter born in U.S. after Hendrik and Menstje immigrated in April 1888).

Menstje's parents were Jan Diekema and Jakoline Vos.
