DONALD MINK
Donald Walter Mink, age 82, of Prairie du Chien, entered into Heaven on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. Donald was born on July 14, 1924, in Waterloo Township, Grant County, Wisconsin, to Adam and Julia (Elskamp) Mink.
On July 26, 1947, Donald was united in marriage to Mary L. Meyers at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Donald enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He later worked in Kenosha at American Motors. In 1962, he opened Don Mink Plumbing and Heating in Patch Grove, serving the area until 1984. Donald was a member of the United Methodist Church in Patch Grove, the American Legion Post No.5 of Patch Grove, and a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge in Bloomington He enjoyed gardening and woodworking and spending time with his familyHe is survived by his wife, Mary, of Prairie du Chien; his children: Patricia (Phil) Kirschbaum, Patch Grove; Jim (Deb) Mink, Prairie du Chien; Cynthia (Larry) Busch, Patch Grove; Jeffrey (Lisa) Mink, Prairie du Chien; and Kim (John) Curtis, Patch Grove; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mae Day and Helen Leeser, both of Lancaster; a sister-in-l!
aw, Carole Mink, Alabama; many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: Virgil, Leland "Gus", Keith, Claude, and Herbert.
The funeral service to honor the life of Donald will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Patch Grove with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington, and Thursday morning after 9:00 a.m. at the church. A Donald W. Mink memorial fund has been established.
