Katie,
If you do transcribe the Indexes from these films, consider sending a
printout of the Index, and a file of it in DOS text format (ASCII), to the
LDS. In all likelihood you will receive a thank you from them and a request
that they be allowed to reproduce it and make it available to others.
For those of you working so diligently on the Saginaw cnty cemeteries,
please consider doing so too. LDS is the only one we can really count on to
make things available at virtually no cost to anyone who wants to access
them. The LDS remains while websites are lost.
Also, I would hope that everyone who utilizes LDS films are aware that if
a particular film is of long term use to you, you can renew your rental
twice and that 3rd rental (one original rental, two renewals) keeps it
permanently at your FHC. I know that it can be frustrating at times that
you can't "purchase" LDS films for personal use at home, etc. but in so
many cases part of the agreement when LDS was allowed to microfilm public
or church records was that they could not "sell" the information/material
and "had" to make it available to others.
