I agree with the others that your first choice for searching in
Saginaw should be the Hoyt Library's Eddy Collection, which is on the
second floor (you'll see the elevator on the left side just as you enter the
front door). It is an excellent collection and contains a lot of information
on the Saginaw County area.
When searching in a new city, I have always appreciated directions so
if you travel on I-75 from the south to Saginaw, take the MI 46 exit and
head west. Go to Genesee St. and turn right. Continue to Janes St. and turn
left until you see the Saginaw City Police station on the right. The library
is directly across the street from the station on the right.. There is a
parking lot for patrons directly across from the library and "kitty-corner"
on the left from the police station. The library is open M-Th from nine to
nine. On Fridays and Saturdays the hours are from nine to five.
If arriving from the north on I-75, , then take the I-675 exit and
follow it to the Jefferson Ave. exit (the next exit after the Davenport
exit).. Take Jefferson Ave. to the right to Janes Ave. and turn left. The
library is on the left side.

If you wish to see the courthouse records, you will need to take Janes
Rd. East from the library to Washington St. and turn left. Take Washington
St. to Court St. (Court St. ends with the Saginaw Children's Zoo). Turn
right on Court St. and go across the bridge to Michigan Ave. The Courthouse
is the very large building across Michigan Ave. on the left side. You can
park in the lot (25 cents per hr. in meters-American coins only) which is on
the right side of Court St. Their hours are from eight to five, Monday
through Friday. The books which you want to see are located at the end of
the counter. If you have questions, the staff is very helpful...esp. Barb
and Connie.

Welcome to Saginaw.! If you need a place to stay, there are some excellent
motels in the Bridgeport and Frankenmuth areas (Exit 144) off I-75, if you
are coming here from the south.

Hope this helps you have a pleasant visit to our city.

Diane
