Subject: [MISHIAWA-L] Peter W. Kinney, Corunna
Date: Mon, 29 Oct 2001 23:24:42 +0800
To any of you who may remember my search for Commerce in Shiawassee County,
the mystery has been solved. I was mailed an actual copy of the document
from Canada and it definitely says....Peter W. Kinney in the Town of Corunna
in The County of Shiawassee, State of Michigan. It was dated Dec 22, 1890.
It's definitely my Peter.
Thank you to all of you who help with county information, etc. I knew the
minute I tried to read the Commerce part of his address that it was actually
Corunna. Now I need your help again.
Peter W. Kinney was living in Bennington Township in 1880, but had
previously lived in Saginaw. He was in Saginaw when he married in 1854 and
in 1860 and 1870. Then in 1880 in Bennington. My brother has an old bible
with his name written on the inside cover page and the date Dec 27th, 1882
and it says Corunna, Shiawassee County, Michigan. Now we have this land
transfer written and addressed to him in Corunna in Dec 1890 sooooooo now I
could use some help again.
Does anyone have any local directories or anything from the Corunna area
that they might be able to look in. Peter W. KINNEY is the name. His wife
was Anna M. Willson KINNEY. They had nine children born between 1855 and
1877, but only four of them lived to adulthood. The oldest was Daniel W.
Kinney who married in Saginaw in 1887.
I'd be interested in any help or suggestions anyone can offer. Peter's
obituary (he died in Pontiac State Hospital in 1911 suffering from Epileptic
Insanity) says all of his children prededed him in death. I can't find
anything on Belle Kinney b. July 24, 1862 or George W. Kinney b. Dec 6,
1864. I have a suspicion that Belle married a man with the surname
Schooley, but I have never been able to locate any information on her. I
know that Belle Schooley would have outlived Peter Kinney as she was still
alive in the 1950's .... that is....if I'm on the right track. George W.
Kinney seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Maybe Peter
disowned the surviving children when he was committed to the hospital as his
son was the one who brought the charges as far as I can tell.
Please contact me if you have any information that might help. I'd really
appreciate anything you can tell me. I now have him attached to his
rightful family, but still have some blanks to fill in.
Thanks for any help you can offer. You're really a great help.
