The maiden name of Sarah/Sally Andrews Hill is Lamerson, also spelled Lamberson and Lambertson, daughter of Jacob Lamerson and Mary Harrison of Camillus, Onondaga County, New York. Sarah's sister Elizabeth married Capt. Sam Ward founder of Newport (today's Marine City) who encouraged many of his wife's family to come to St. Clair Co. Also coming, Sarah's sister Hannah, wife of William Gallagher, builder of the mill on Belle River in China Twp., & Sarah's sister Catherine, wife of Daniel McQueen, who had a farm on Belle River. It appears that Sarah's mother Mary Harrison Lamerson later married Thomas Fargo, and they also settled in China Twp. near Belle River. (Many of this family are buried in Clark Cemetery, China Twp.)
Sarah/Sally's first husband was Joel Andrews, Sr., b. Vermont 27 Feb. 1785: Children: Juliette b. 1813, Jacob b. 2 March 1814, Elizabeth b. 5 Dec. 1815, Samuel b. 17 July 1817, John Lamerson b. 7 April 1821, Electa P. b. 26 Jan 1822 & Joel Jr.
