Message Board Post:
Mrs. Shaw who died at her home south and west of the village Tuesday morning last had been a resident of this township for nearly thirty years, having come here in 1867. She with her husband moved upon the place where she died in 1872. There were born to them nine children, eight of whom are living and are as folows: James, of Yale, Ms. Curry, of Sanilac county, Robert, Samuel, Caroll, Ed, Harvey and John at home. For several years Mrs. Shaw has kept the family together by her own exertions aided only by her children. She was a kind and obliging neighbor and was loved and respected by all who knew her. Her remains were laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery yesterday. The funeral sermon was delivered in Brick Chapel by Rev. Kirkland. [Yale Expositor, Nov. 20, 1896]
