Hi!



A cousin recently emailed me a photo of nine girls in dresses, gathered
round a book. The girls appear to be pre-teens and teenagers. We suspect it
is a Sunday School class, but it might be a school class.



One of the girls is our great-aunt, Mae BENKELMAN, as her name is written on
the back. We both think Mae is the girl, seated on the far left of the
photo. We would love to know how the other girls are. It is a gorgeous
studio quality photo, probably taken at Maier's.

Mae graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1915. The other
female members of her High School class were Ruth FRITZ, Helen McGREGORY,
Florence BIGELOW, Alma MARK, Ruth BITTNER, Helen KOLB, Mary FLYNN, Lottie
HAMILTON, Allison SPENCE, Beatrice KOEPFGEN, Hazen?? CARSON (possibly male)
and Vina McPHAIL. It is possible, therefore, that these young women who
graduated with her were in this photo with her.



Mae attended the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Cass City, so it is
also possible that other girls of around her age (she was born in 1896) who
attended the EUB church with her are the ones pictured-and of course the two
possibilities are not mutually exclusive.
