I don't have any answers specific to your ancestor, but I can tell you that
the last time my husband and I went to extraordinary efforts to trace one
person married to two people, we found that it was actually TWO people with
the same name married to two different people.

We concluded that bigamy was less likely than the fact that two men (perhaps
cousins) were born about the same time and had the same name. Hence our
diagnosis: two separate marriages, two separate husbands.

I note in my own family history that lots of people share the same name. (I
have, I think, four Sally Overackers.)
