Lynette,

Plenty of newspapers in Washtenaw County in 1888 but no single newspaper
carried "all" the news. Your best bet is to look in the newspaper in the
community closest to where the event occurred. If he was shot in Ypsilanti,
that is where you would most likely find an article. There probably would
not be coverage in say, Manchester in the SW part of the county. The
Genealogical Society of Washtenaw County has excellent summary of county
newspapers and location of extant copies at:
