I called Highland Cemetery on Friday and they left a voice mail message for
me the next day saying that my great-great grandfather, Arthur LEEDY, wasn't
buried there.
The cemetery is a mystery. My great-great grandfather died in Detroit in 1959
and his death certificate says he was buried in Haven Memorial Gardens in
Wayne County.
However, this cemetery does not seem to exist. I've called many cemeteries in
Detroit and he wasn't buried in any of them.
I tracked down the funeral home director, who is now retired and living in
South Carolina, and he said that while he does not remember burying Arthur
LEEDY, he said that Haven Memorial Gardens was somewhere in the Ypsilanti area -
it's in a rural area, he remembers.
So perhaps there was a name change? I don't know.
