Hi Ann,
I was the one who reported on the DAR records at the Benteley on the Vermont
Cemetery. I had visited there about 3 weeks ago.
After my visit, I too wrote them, it was last Friday, I asked them to copy
the folder of Oak Grove Cemetery Manchester Twp, and Reymold's Corner Cemetery
also Manchester Twp and also the folder that had early births and marriages
for Manchester Twp. I believe they will copy them and then sent me a
statement for payment and when I pay them, they will send the info. I am hoping to
use the Oak Grove and the Reynold's info to update the transcriptions of both
cmeeteries.
I know there were other Washtenaw Co Cemeteries in that box too, but I can't
remember which ones. If someone gets there, can they let the list know
which folders are there??? I am sure this will help in the tombstome reading
project.
thanks

Someone told us about DAR records at the library at U of M. I have sent a
request to the Bentley Library to have the contents of the Vermont Cemetery
folder copied, so keep your fingers crossed that they aren't busy and it gets
done fast.
An update for anyone interested in my missing relatives at Vermont Cemetery.
I talked to the man who takes care of the cemetery, Troy Satterthwaite, and
he was not helpful. My husband and I drove out there last Friday and the
stones are back in place. Since I am not delusional, the mystery of their
movement is unsolved.
Mr. Satterthwaite is not responsive to me, but he does have a map of the
cemetery that was started when the cemetery was established. According to him,
it mostly tells who bought the plots. He also has a book that gives more
information -- I asked about that, but again, he has not responded to me. I am
hoping that the Bentley Library records are as good as, or the same as, the book
Mr. Satterthwaite has. If anyone is aware who Mr. Satterthwaite's superior
is, maybe that person could get me a look-see or copies of his book - and
maybe even a copy of the map!
