Al and Karen -- I won't be going to the library in person - Ann Arbor is an hour away. With the price of gas (and a badly sprained ankle - am using a cane) I can't justify the trip right now. That is why I sent the request to copy the Vermont cemetery folder by mail.
Do you know if the Library's listings of early births, etc., is drawn directly from the county's data, or is it supplemented by church data, or whatever? Years ago, I went to Washtenaw co and was allowed to go through the marriages and death records - I believe births were restricted. I now have more surnames to check also. At least my family stayed in Sylvan Twp and I don't have to spread out further.
And with Manchester -- if you find anything pertaining to a man named Grove Barker, would you pass it on? I found one measly reference to Grove Barker in the Manchester area in the early 1830's, I believe was the time period. I have a Marshall Grove Barker b.1852 as a member of my Sylvan Twp family - the names don't seem like coincidence. The only Grove Barker I found on the census was in Mass then NY, as I recall - while my Barkers came from England in 1838.
