I have a feeling this might be him as he was born in 1934 and died in 2003.
I found this at Rootsweb. I did a search in Rootsweb's SSDI and quite a few
Gordon Burke's came up but only about 6 with Michigan SS#s. This is the
only one about the age he would have been. Of course, he might still be
living and this might not be him.

His SS# was issued in Michigan but he died in Bakersfield, CA. How do I
find out if he was African American?

Jan. 29, 1934 Sept. 13, 2003

Gordon Wayne Burke was born on January 29, 1934, in Michigan, and passed
away on September 13, 2003, in Bakersfield, California, at his home with
his loving family by his side.

Gordon worked in the construction business as a steelworker for many years.
He was a good Christian man and a very loving husband, father and
grandfather who loved children very much.

Gordon is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Billie; his daughter,
Denise M. Burke; stepdaughters: Martha Saben, Nancy L. Saben and Michelle
E. Marrom; 8 brothers and sisters, as well as numerous grandchildren,
great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all who knew him. Chapel services for Gordon will be
held at Kern River Family Mortuary, 1900 N. Chester Ave., on Wednesday,
September 17, 2003, at 2 p.m.
