I had a similar question, concerning burials that occured in Opelika, and also Phenix City Alabama.

Who turned out to be a valued resource was the momument companies (the people who make the tombstones) in the area. It should be far less of them than funeral homes, and I believe you will have greater success in seeking them out for assistance.
