No online index that I have seen or heard of. You might want to try the Macomb County Public Library. I had an offer from someone back about 2001 to do a look up in the Detroit News and he said that the above library had the News on microfilm back to 1939 but it was not indexed.

I would email them. I don't know if they have the Free Press also.

If you need newer death notices, the newspapers have online death notices that go back to August or Sept. 2001 but not all the death notices that appeared in the papers, are on the internet. Apparently, not all the funeral homes allow it.
