The e-mail for St. Paul is . They were very prompt and helpful. Danzig is not in Posen. It may be in Pommerania or West Prussia. I would assume, however, that they were from a smaller village. It is possible that my Behnke connection to the Putzig family was mere friendship. In later baptisms here in Texas it was either family or a local family of high repute who were godparents. The Behnkes were in Detroit only briefly. They arrived in May 1875 and Augusta had her children in September 1875. They arrived in Texas sometime during 1876 and lived in rural communities with a high Posener content. A brother who immigrated in 1880 directly to Texas had a wife who was from Pommerania. I had always assumed that since one of their children was born in Posen they were last from Posen. It may be that the Behnkes left Posen for Pommerania then on to America. It is anybody's guess. I checked the Detroit directories and censuses from 1880 onward and onl!
y found your Putzigs. I could not find the Dudecks or Heinrichs. I had hoped that church records from Detroit would conclusively point to a specific village since they do not here in Texas. Alas, the search continues.
