Dear Chrissie,

The Michigan death index 1971-1996 shows a John H. Graves, b. 7 Feb 1895, died 17 December 1974, residence was Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.

Microfilms of the two Detroit newspapers (Detroit News and Detroit Free Press) are available for the Inter Library Loan (ILL) program. Contact your local library to see if they participate.

If not, try the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research (DSGR) to see if one of their members could do a look up for you. Microfilms of the newspapers are at the main Detroit Public Library and I think they are at the State LIbrary of Michigan if you happen to live near Lansing, Michigan

Death notice might show that he was a dentist but won't necessarily show his parents' names. Might list living siblings.
