National ran north from Michigan Avenue to Grand River. According to the 1928-1929 Polk City Directory, it was one block east of Harrison which still appears on the map but the street to the east of it is Cochrane which I think was named after the baseball player Mickey Cochrane. It's right by the old ball park. Looking at a current map on mapquest, it appears that the 2400 address is right where the Fisher Freeway is (I-75).
If you go to the following and put Polk in the search engine, it will take you to the 1928-29 Detroit City Directory (if the website is not acting up). Go to page 2480 which shows where National intersects Michigan and page 2498 for National street. Use the PDF format to read the pages.
