If you live in Michigan, you can order the Detroit newspapers through your local library from the State Library of Michigan. Main papers were The Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit Times. There was a German paper at some time but not sure when.

If you live out of state, you could see if your library participates in the Inter Library Loan (ILL) program. I think that the papers can be ordered from the main Detroit Public Library for a fee.

Or, you can send the Detroit Public Library $15.00 to do a search.

Or if you live in either the metro Detroit area or Lansing, you can find the papers at the main Detroit Public Library on Woodward Avenue across from the Detroit Institute of Arts or the State Library of Michigan in Lansing.
